10 Powerful Grocery Store Foods & How To Use Them Medicinally

Look no further than your local grocery store for some of the most powerful healing immune boosting foods.

Even if you do eat these foods occasionally, are you eating enough to make them medicinal?


1-EAT THEM DAILY-I'm not kidding!

To prevent illness especially during cold and flu season, you need to incorporate may of these foods daily.

When you are full blown sick eat only from this list until you feel better, this will dramatically speed up recovery.


Each of these foods boost your immune system in different ways, the more variety you have, the stronger your defense system will be.


Think of it as this: every time you eat one of these powerful foods, you’re sending a message of healing, the more you send this message the more you‘ll see a difference.


  • Boosts the immune system.

  • Have powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties that have been shown to be highly beneficial in the prevention and treatment of colds, flu, sore throats, coughs, fevers, exhaustion, ear aches, bronchitis and pneumonia.

  • Offer a collection of different nutrients and antioxidants your body needs to heal.

1-Aromatic herbs such as oregano, rosemary and thyme

Get into the habit of adding these herbs into your daily meals.

Make it Medicinal :

Thyme Tea 2 springs of fresh thyme 500 ml hot water optional: fresh lemon &/or raw honey

Place fresh thyme in a mug and pour hot water over, allow to steep for 15 min or more. Remove thyme springs or strain. Sweeten with raw honey &/or lemon.


Make it Medicinal :

Ginger Tea

2 inches of fresh ginger root grated

500 ml of hot water

optional: fresh lemon &/or raw honey

Place grated ginger in a mug and pour hot water over, allow to steep for 15 min or more. Sweeten with raw honey &/or lemon.

3-Raw Garlic

Make it Medicinal :

Crush up 1 clove and let the minced garlic rest for about 15 minutes, letting the garlic’s enzymes activate. Eat 1 clove every 4 hours until the bug is entirely knocked out! Get into the habit of consuming 1 raw garlic daily.

  • Add raw honey (also healing) & take it straight

  • Add this to your daily homemade salad dressings

  • Hide it in a mashed avocado, cooked potato, apple sauce or mashed banana

  • Sometimes I just put a bit of raw garlic in my mouth while I'm eating my dinner and chew it with the rest of my food.

4-Raw Honey

Make this your go to sweetener. Add it to herbal teas, drizzle a little on your smoothie bowls or even take a teaspoon whenever you have a sugar craving.

Make it Medicinal :

When you feel like you’re coming down with something, take a teaspoon of raw or unpasteurized honey before bed


Add turmeric to your life in any form; turmeric root or powder works!

Make it Medicinal :

  • Fresh turmeric root can be grated on soups and salads

  • Can be added to added to ginger, lemon and honey to make a tea

  • To speed up recovery when you're sick;

Turmeric Shots

2 Oranges

4 inch piece of turmeric root

4 inch piece of ginger root

Pass through a juicer. Sip throughout the day to seep recovery.

6-Mint Tea

You can use fresh mint or peppermint tea

Make it Medicinal :

Congestion? Drink 1-2 cups of all natural peppermint tea

7-Lemon or Lime Water

Squeeze half a lemon or lime into 500 ml of water every morning first thing.

Make it Medicinal :

Anti-Nausea Water

2 inches of fresh ginger root grated

500 ml of water

1/2 a lemon

Pour water over grated ginger, let it sit for at least 30 minutes to overnight. When you're ready to drink it, add lemon.

8-Vegetable Juices

Drink one juice a day. Use a combination of your favorite vegetables and herbs such as celery, cucumber, asparagus, lettuces, spinach, fennel, broccoli stems, kale, carrots, cilantro, parsley, etc. Add either apples or pears to sweeten it up, especially if it's for kids.

Make it Medicinal :

Fever Buster

Drink 500 ml of pure cucumber juice on an empty stomach


No foods, just fluids such as herbal teas, green juices, homemade fruits juices, lemon water, vegetable broths. Eating will only slow down recovery time.

9-Healing Vegetable Broths

Make it Medicinal :

Add any of your favorite vegetables and herbs to a pot of boiling water. Some of my favorites are onions, leeks, garlic, carrots, celery, potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes squashes, parsley, thyme, chili peppers etc. Simmer for about 1 hour, strain and sip!

10-Fresh Fruit, Raw Vegetables & Leafy Greens

During the colder months you may be less inclined to eat from this group, but note:

this will make or break your results. YOU NEED TO EAT AT LEAST 50% of your diet from this group.

Here are my tricks

  • Accompany it with a warming herbal tea or vegetable broth.

  • Add freshly chopped herbs on your meals right before serving, such as fresh parsley or spinach on top of soups.

  • Always add raw with your meals, whether it be fruit with breakfast, raw vegetables or salads with lunch and dinner. Aim to have half raw with your meals and snacks.


We are trying to use food as medicine, you can’t expect to see results if you only eat them once in a while, it needs to be daily!
