Even though some are quite easy, they could totally change your life. My clients all tell me how much they have benefited from them. I am sure you will too.
1. Drink lemon water in the morning
This goes right through the bowels and cleans the mucus out from the day before.
2. Your stomach needs to be lubricated, not flooded
When you drink fluids with meals, you drown your digestive enzymes, and only partial digestion occurs. Therefore, drink fluids, juices or water 30 minutes away for meals.
3. Chew Chew Chew
Chewing food until it becomes liquified is one of my most important recommendations. Really savour each bite. Feel the texture and capture the flavours of your food. When your saliva comes into contact with your food, as it’s being chewed, the digestion process begins. The chewed food will then pass easily through your digestive system with maximum nutrient uptake.
4. Eat when you calm
You physically can’t digest food properly if you’re upset or have just had an argument. Eat when calm, your digestion will be much better.
5. Decorate your plate
When you smell food, feast your eyes on it or even think about it, your brain is spurred into action, sending a message to the salivary glands to secrete saliva, which contains a digestive enzyme. So prepare attractive, delicious meals to enhance your digestion.
6. Rotate Foods
You may miss out on different nutrients that different foods provide if you eat the same foods every day. It also helps increase the diversity of good bacteria in your gut. Greater diversity in gut bacteria is associated not only with better overall health but also with weight loss.
Have fun going to your local farmer's markets and experimenting with new herbs, fruits and vegetables regularly.
7. Listen to your body
Take note of the foods you crave. If you really want a specific food, its colour, the smell or the feel, enjoy and go with the attractions. It may be that your body needs something nutritionally contained within that food. I’m not talking about cookies here! I’m referring to whole, unprocessed foods from Mother Nature.
8. Enzymes! Enzymes! Enzymes!
Sprouted seeds, raw vegetables, raw fruits, nuts and seeds are loaded with live enzymes, the key to nutrient absorption and vibrant health. Note whenever we cook food, we kill the enzymes.
9. Eat early
Aim to have your last meal of the day at least a couple of hours before bedtime. When you eat too late, you stress and wear out your body. You cannot digest a late meal effectively if you go to sleep on a full stomach. It’s terrible for your digestive organs, heart and liver, not to mention your libido!
10. Choose cruciferous veggies
Eat lots of cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts or cauliflower; these will help you detox and energize your body. If it’s too much for you to handle in the beginning, gradually increase.
11. Drink your greens
At least once a week, make yourself a green juice made from a variety of green vegetables. They have a rejuvenating effect on the body because they are rich in chlorophyll (the lifeblood of the plant) which helps to purify the blood, build red blood cells, detoxify the body and provide fast energy.
12. Food combine
Meat/fish/nuts/seeds + veggies
Starches + veggies
13. Move lymph
Rebounding and skipping are top ways for moving the lymph, but any form of regular exercise will help move lymph, expel toxins, support the blood and revitalize the body
14. Dry skin brush
Start at the feet and work your way up the legs, torso and arms, always towards the heart. This will get your blood moving and spur the energy meridians, improving your digestion. Do this daily before getting into the shower.
15. Early to bed
The earlier you get to bed, the better you will feel—the liver and gallbladder conductor their detox work generally between the hours of 11 and 2 AM. If you are not in bed by 11 PM, you disturb the natural process, and as a result, you will feel sluggish.
Take a few moments each morning to reflect on 5 things you’re grateful for. You can do this anytime, while you brush your teeth, while you sip your morning coffee or even while you drive.
17. Hug someone daily
When people hug for 20 seconds or more, you reduce your stress, immune system boosts, ease pain in your body, improves your heart, lowers blood pressure, and so much more.
